Project Two Art3870 fall 2011

Web Services Concept Selling web services to Art Galleries ◦ Our group sells web site development for art galleries: the navigation- less web browser for users at the exhibition ◦ Free QR scan app allows users who are at the gallery to view information about the work and the artist without needing to navigate through the gallery website. ◦ When you scan the QR code next to an art work in the gallery, it takes you to the URL (page) that tells you about the work of art (artist, date, background info, etc). ◦ Web pages are formatted with HTML5 so that the mobile device view does not have navigation menus (the QR scan is the navigation). PC and Tablet views have navigation for users who are not at the show but want to see what is in the exhibition. (Galleries have the option to password protect the exhibition pages. ) Print view does not have navigation. ◦ Cost savings to Art Galleries as they only have to build one web site Names for the service could be… ◦ Gallery Web Services, Gallery Browser, Gallery eView

Project Pages The website that we will build tells you about this app. ◦ Cover page – about the app ◦ Second page – example of the page rendered by the app  Resizing the page on a PC simulates the various format layouts: PC, tablet, mobile

DEMO of HTML5, CSS3 Images resize when the browser changes size Layout changes when the browser change size between iPhone, iPad, and Mac screen sizes Some components don’t display on the iPhone version. (The header doesn’t show, as it’s assumed that you know where you are, as you just scanned the QR code next to a painting) The printer version only prints the picture above, with the deYoung logo below, sort of like a poster format.

Website Home: About the App ◦ Text describing the app ◦ Picture of a person using an iPhone to scan an image in the de Young ◦ Header ◦ Footer w/co Example Page: de Young “Andrea Mantegna” ◦ Viewed from a desktop or notebook, you see the header, menu, etc. (none of the links work) ◦ Viewed from an iPad, you see ◦ Viewed from a iPhone, you see just the info on the painting ◦ Printing view
