Prempeh Academy has the PYP where the Young parliamentarians have the opportunity to talk about issues that affect them as children in the school and sometime in the effective way to improve their academic life. They also make suggestions solutions and recommendations for management of the school to adopt and implement.

 PYP meets twice within a month. The first meeting is held on the first Friday of each month.  Various class representatives meet on Tuesday, between 13hrs and 14hrs.  The second meeting is held on the last Friday of each month. This meeting is held with the representative from management of the school to discuss proposals and resolutions from the Parliament and brief the house of management decisions for further discussions.

THE SPEAKER (SCHOOL PRESIDENT) CLASS REPRESENTATIVES CLUBS REPRESENTATIVE MANAGEMENT STAFF THE SECRETARY

Members of the parliament are representatives from the various clubs. They bring suggestion and concerns of the respective clubs to the house and send decisions and resolutions made in the house to their various clubs for briefing. Clubs include:  Cadet corps  Writers club  Drama club  Sports club

The Parliament has suggested different clubs to be instituted in the school. We have the following clubs:  Cadet Corps: to ensure high level of discipline among student and monitor movement within the school. In as much as they ensure punctuality on the part of students they also ensure that teachers are meeting the working hours they are supposed to make. They also usurp as security for the school during elections and school functions.  Writers Club: They work to improve literacy among the student through debates, quizzes, essay competitions, word games and speech presentations.  Drama Club: work with children to give them the platform to exhibit their hidden talents and improve the confidence of the children in public speaking through plays and sketches.  Sports Club: They work to improve the physic of the children and also involve the children in sports activities to unearth talents and capabilities in young people.

 It makes us the student have a sense of belonging knowing that we can make decisions that will affect our lives positively as students. We can also take decision that bother on the development of our academic lives.  Boost our moral and confidence level to work hard to achieve the objectives and aims of the school by learning hard to pass our exams.  It makes us feel that management have a listening ear and they respect our views and take our view into consideration when taking decisions that affect us the students.

 Parliamentarians are given monthly training through films from sittings of the National Parliament proceedings.  Young parliamentarians visit the National Parliament to watch live proceeding to give them hands-on experiences.  Visit of the Parliamentarian of the location of the school to grace their meeting and coached them in becoming pragmatic parliamentarians in their school.

The budget of the Prempeh Young Parliament is around GH¢3,500 per term which comprise of training, stationery and publications. Our annual budget is GH¢10,500 which is equivalent to US$5,200.
