Bay of Pigs (1961) Event: was an unsuccessful attempt by a CIA-trained force of Cuban exiles to invade southern Cuba to overthrow the Cuban government of Fidel Castro. Result: Many Americans criticized Kennedy for the disastrous invasion attempt.

The Berlin Wall Goes Up (1961) Event: was a concrete barrier built by GDR influenced by the Soviets Union that completely cut off city East & West Berlin. Result: The wall stood as a symbol of the Cold War for nearly three decades.

Cuban Missile Crisis (1962) Event: U.S. Navy formed a blockade around Cuba to prevent Soviet ships from bringing in more weapons. It was the closest the two countries came to nuclear war. Result: Khrushchev agreed to remove the missiles from Cuba and Kennedy agreed to remove missiles from Turkey. Ultimately Kennedy looked like the hero who got the Soviets to back down.

Brown v. Board: Outlawed racial segregation in public schools.

Miranda v. Arizona: Police must inform suspects of their rights during the arrest process.

Engel v. Vitale: State-mandated prayer in school banned.

Kennedy Assassination: Took place November 22, 1963, in Dallas, Texas in Dealey Plaza. The ten-month investigation of the Warren Commission concluded that the President was assassinated by Lee Harvey Oswald, who was murdered by Jack Ruby before he could stand trial.
