What Is National Board Certification?

The Research… Majority of studies indicate that National Board Certification makes a significantly positive impact on teacher performance and student learning, engagement and achievement Teachers who pursue certification show significant improvement in their teaching practice, whether they achieve certification or not All else being equal, teachers who have achieved National Board Certification helped their students achieve larger testing gains than did colleagues without the certification These are the tools candidates use and these are the tools candidates will be assessed with.

What’s the NBPTS process? 2014/2017 Flexibility - While teachers can complete the entire certification process in one year once it is fully implemented, some may choose to do so over several years if that fits better with other demands on a teacher’s time. Affordability - The total cost of certification is $1900 (plus annual registration fee), with each of the four components costing $475 and $75 annual registration fee . Candidates will have the option to pay for and submit components separately. For THIS cycle, an active candidates may only submit ONE or TWO components by the May deadline (vs. ALL) 

The Design of the 2014/2017 Process The 2014-17 process for National Board Certification will be comprised of 4 components: Component 1 Content Knowledge and Pedagogy Component 2 Differentiation in Instruction Component 3 Teaching Practice and Classroom Environment Component 4 (C4) Effective and Reflective Practitioner
