1-List the benefits of baby weighing. 2- Enumerate equipments for weight the baby. 3- Mention types of baby scale. 4- Explain basic steps of weight the baby.

 Assess the health status of the child.  Assess the general condition of the child.  Assess the nutritional status of the child. Equipment  Baby scale  Small sheet or paper to cover scale.  Child's growth chart.  Alcohol swabs.

 Children aged 0-36 months should be weighted nude for accurate body weight determination.  Never turn your back to an infant on a scale.

 Explain procedure and its importance to the mother.  Wash Hands.  Prepare the needed equipments.  Determine child’s pervious weight, if available.

Performance Cont.  clean the scale with alcohol swab.  Place light drape or paper on scale.  Calibrate scale to “0” position.  Ask the mother to bring other baby clothes similar to what the baby is wearing.  Ask the mother to put the baby on the scale.

 Hold hand slightly over infant while on scale.  Remove infant from scale and return infant to parent’s arms or crib.  Give feedback and teaching mother according to the result.  Wash hands and record weight on child’s growth chart by kilograms.
