Summary of Campus Sustainability Efforts

American College and University Presidents Climate Commitment The commitment states that California State University, Chico will:  Commit to a Climate Action Plan designed to reach Carbon Neutrality  Conduct biannual Greenhouse Gas Inventories to benchmark measures  Build all new campus construction to at least the U.S. Green Building Council's LEED Silver standard or equivalent  Adopt an energy-efficient appliance purchasing policy requiring purchase of ENERGY STAR certified products in all areas for which such ratings exist  Encourage use of and provide access to public transportation for all faculty, staff, students and visitors at our institution  Begin purchasing or producing at least 15% of our institution's electricity consumption from renewable sources within one year of signing this document  Participate in the Waste Minimization component of the national RecycleMania competition, and adopt 3 or more associated measures to reduce waste

Climate Action Plan The University Climate Action Plan Summary:  Drafted by The Institute for Sustainable Development in collaboration with the Vice President for Business and Finance  Commits to Climate Neutrality by 2030  Interim target of 1990 levels by 2020  Formal approval needed by Campus Sustainability Committee

Energy Campus Energy Use  Electrical Provider and grid mix:  PG&E vs Arizona Power Supply  EXECUTIVE ORDER S , requires that retail electrical providers increase the renewable portfolio of their grid mix to 20% by the beginning of 2010 and 33% by the year 2020.
