C’est le livre de Beatrice When you want to show ownership of something in French there are two ways to do it. Look at the sentences below: Voici la voiture C’est la voiture de Marie Voici l’ordinateur C’est l’ordinateur de Jean Voici le livre C’est le livre de Beatrice

To show possession you could use the following construction: le/la/les + noun+ de + owner d’(+ vowel sound) Le stylo de Marc. Le cahier de Natalie La gomme de Thomas

The same construction is used to express relationship C’est le copain de Daniel – That’s Daniels friend C’est la mère de Paul – That’s Paul’s mother C’est le voisin de Véronique - That’s Véroniques neighbor

Don’t forget that de contracts with le and les: Ou est le chat du voisin? – where is the neighbor’s cat? C’est la chambre des enfants – This is the children’s room. C’est la voiture du prof – That’s the teacher’s car.
