03/06/ Higher Still Physical Education The Race is underway. Now is the time to make your move before the Race is over!

03/06/ Higher Still Physical Education Structures, Strategies & Composition Homework 3 Q11a) – Choose an activity. - Describe, in detail, two structures, - Describe, in detail, two structures, strategies or compositions, one which you strategies or compositions, one which you consider to be your first choice & one which consider to be your first choice & one which you consider to be your alternative or second you consider to be your alternative or second choice. choice. Q11b) – Explain why you favour your first choice structure, strategy or composition. structure, strategy or composition. Q11c) – When using your first choice structure, strategy or composition, describe a situation strategy or composition, describe a situation which put you under pressure. Explain why which put you under pressure. Explain why your alternative structure, strategy or your alternative structure, strategy or composition was more effective in dealing with composition was more effective in dealing with the pressure. the pressure. Q11d) – As you applied your alternative structure, strategy or composition, discuss the importance of continually monitoring its effectiveness.

03/06/ Higher Still Physical Education The structure of the question follows the CYCLE OF ANALYSIS. C-3POi Q11 a - Name the SPORT – FOOTBALL !!! State your 2 choices of STRUCTURES OF PLAY. Call them 1 st & 2 nd Choice as appropriate. Now take them 1 at a time and explain IN DETAIL what the NUMBERS mean be it 442 or 352 or 433 or 451 etc. A diagram may be an option, if so use a ruler & use either Player Numbers or Letters in your plan. If using letters a “KEY” will be required. If you draw it, refer to it in your answer! For each Choice you must work systematically through explaining the Defence; the Midfield & the Attackers. Assume the examiner knows NOTHING about football. Within a very good answer, BUZZ WORDS shall feature regularly e.g. Width, Depth, Support, Delay, Concentration, Penetration & you will explain what the main responsibilities of your players are e.g. retain possession, 2 centre backs who covers what???

03/06/ Higher Still Physical Education Q11 b) This part of the question asks YOU to explain WHY YOU favour YOUR 1 st Choice of Structure. Start by restating what this Structure is ! What can make this your 1 st Choice??? The ability of your players both Physical & technical – expand again starting with the defence > midfield > attack. The ability of your players both Physical & technical – expand again starting with the defence > midfield > attack. Use BUZZ words to enhance why this choice is a Strength / 1 st Choice for you. Use BUZZ words to enhance why this choice is a Strength / 1 st Choice for you.

03/06/20155 Higher Physical Education Q11c) As we are dealing with Football, the logical approach is for you to create a situation where the Structure employed by your opponents creates all sorts of problems for your team. This means you need to describe & explain another Structure of Play & highlight how the strengths of this exploit the weaknesses of your 1 st Choice system. Just as in part b) your answer will need to be logical and take the defence/midfield/ attack in turn and explain that qualities the other team have which allow them to put pressure on your system. Q11d) Is it working? Do our players know their roles? Is the other manager/teacher making other changes that we need to combat? Feedback for future reference? Physical effects of changing the Structure.
