The Environment By: Kyle Olivia Jessica Heather Sarah Tyler

The Environment Our natural surroundings are… –Forest, plants, etc. –Lakes, Streams, etc. –Topography –Biomes –Air

Why care? If we don’t care for the environment… –We will decrease the amount of oxygen, and increase the amount of carbon dioxide –The climate will change and destroy the animals habitats, eventually affecting us

Environmental Problems Littering is a major problem with the environment Air and water pollution are others Deforestation and building of unnecessary houses Recycling refuses

Scientists use these to study the stream environment To study the stream environment scientists… –Take chemical tests Dissolved oxygen pH Hardness Conductivity –Test the temperature –Probes

What is unique about stream environments? Unique things about stream environments –Many different bottom- dwelling macro invertebrates –Biodiversity –Everything in a stream environment effects another

What does the data from the stream tell us? The data tells… –The Ph of the water –Health of the water –Dissolved oxygen –Hardness of the water –Conductivity of the water

What tools were used to study the forest environment? The tools used to study the forest environment are… –Soil test kit –Soil temperature probe –Yard sticks to measure slope

How do GPS and GIS help us study the environment? GPS and GIS help us study by… –GIS helps map out environmental issues –GPS helps us locate environmental issues –Helps display the data
