What is the Pessebre (Nativity scene)? The representation of the Birth of Jesus (the 25 th of December). In many houses, people put a small recreation of this scene to commemorate the nativity. It is usually situated in the hall or in the living room. In Catalunya you can find special and traditional figures in the Nativity scene: el Caganer and el Pixaner. El Caganer is a figure of a shepherd who is having a shit. El Pixaner is more recent, from the last years. It is a figure who represents a shepherd making a pee. Special figures in Catalunya

Apart from the figures, the Nativity scene is represented by people. In many villages and towns, this scene is represented for 3 or 4 days (usually from 25 th of December to the first week of January). This representation lasts 4 o 5 hours.
