6. Why do we put trees up with angels or stars on the top?

7. I have some special tree decorations with me today which help tell the Christmas story…

8. Mary and Joseph had to visit Bethlehem and there, Jesus was born. Because there was no room for them anywhere in town, Jesus was born in a stable, surrounded by the animals.

9. An angel told the shepherds that this special baby was Jesus Christ the Lord.

10. The excited shepherds ran to the stable to see the baby for themselves.

11. A bright star appeared over where Baby Jesus lay.

12. The star led the wise men to Baby Jesus. They gave him gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.

13. We can all put something meaningful on our Christmas tree this year…

14. It might be a special decoration that reminds us about the Christmas story…

15. Or something that is a special thank you to God for all he has done for the world…

16. Or like the wise men, we might think about giving a gift to a charity to help others less fortunate than us.

17. …and let our Christmas tree lights remind us that Jesus was the light of the world.

18. Jesus was a very special baby because he was the Son of God.
