~ Spanish 2 Quick Review ~

1. My grandmother is short. 2. We are funny. 3. Avnish is smart. 4. Jennifer Lopez is beautiful. 5. Turtles are slow.

Adjectives DESCRIBE a noun. (a person, place, thing)

When describing people/places/things: always use the verb SER (to be) in Spanish.

Soy I am Eres You are Es It is, He is, She is, (One person, thing, place) Somos We are Son They are, You all are, The kids are, My parents are, etc.

In Spanish, adjectives must agree in both NUMBER and GENDER.

When describing ONE person or thing, keep the adjective singular.  Mi papá es cómico.  Yo soy alto.  Tú eres guapo.

When describing MORE THAN ONE person or thing, make the adjective PLURAL. Mis padres son cómicos. Los estudiantes son inteligentes.

When describing females, or items that have are femine (la), you must make the adjective feminine. To make an adjective feminine, change the “-O” ending to an “-A”.

 La chica es bonita.  Mi mamá es álta.  Ellen DeGeneres es cómica.  El chico es bonito.  Mi papá es cómico.  John Stewart es cómico.

 Él = he  Ellos = They (group of males or males/females)  Ella = She  Ellas = They (group of all females)

My sister is short. (bajo) Mi hermana es baja. I am athletic. Yo soy atlético. Yo soy atlética. They (girls) are athletic. Ellas son atléticas.

We are smart. (inteligente) Somos inteligentes. Mi dad is funny. (cómico) Mi papá es cómico. My mom is funny. Mi mamá es cómica. Are your teachers funny? Tus maestros son cómicos.
