Carbon Footprint Defined as “The total amount of greenhouse gases produced to directly and indirectly support human activities.” The main cause of greenhouse gases is the burning of fossil fuels A rough estimate from the EPA is that automobiles are responsible for about 50% of carbon emissions

How to decrease carbon emissions A big way you can decrease carbon emissions is by burning less fuels for transportation You can take public transportation, carpool, drive a more fuel efficient car, and change the way you drive (the harder you accelerate, the more pollution created) Another option is to ride a bike or walk

Unfortunately, not enough people want to do these things to reduce their carbon emissions. Americans like driving big cars, and many people don’t like carpooling Also, the use of public transportation, or riding/walking to work may not be an option
