Archaeology Webquest By: Mrs. Rigdon

Introduction This web quest was created to help you learn more about our STEM exploration of archaeology. You will learn what archaeology is and will create a product to share what you have learned. You will be asked to journal your thoughts as you research the topic of archaeology.

Task 1 Research archaeology using the following websites. Record in your archaeology journal the answers to the following questions. – What is archaeology? – Create a t-chart or venn diagram that compares and contrasts archaeology and anthropology. – What do archaeologists learn from digs? – How do archaeologists know whether humps and bumps on the earth’s surface are possible areas to excavate further? – Where all does archaeology take place? (Really think about this!)

Task 2 Create a poster or paper brochure. – What the product must include? A title Answers to each question from task one Share any interesting facts that you may have found Be sure to cite your sources (students from last year)

Process Go to the Dr. Dig site and learn what is archaeology and other interesting facts. – – – Go to to learn more about archaeology. Go to Britannica and research archaeology. Now that you have researched it’s time to plan out your product. Use the planning sheet to help you plan your project.

Evaluation Please see the handout Archaeology Webquest rubric to see how you will be evaluated for this project.

Conclusion Congratulations! You have completed your first project REACH project. Hopefully, you have learned more about archaeology and are ready to begin your quest as archaeologists.
