Archaeology By Imogen, Rhiannon & Matthew

What Is Archaeology You may think that archaeology is when you find somewhere dig it up and find things from the past. But no it take a lot of planning out and care you use little shovels and brushes and then you send it to a university so they can find out how old it is.

Rules About Archaeology You must have permission to dig up the ground if you do, you have to put it back exactly how you found it. You are only aloud to dig up a certain amount of soil. ( Don’t try this at home without permission)

How To Know Where To Dig To know where to dig you have to have a lot of special equipment and find out what things are under ground. The earthworks tell you what they are by the shape.

The Site ’ s If you start digging a trench then you can’t stop & you have to cover it up and keep it well protected and safe. The site must have a main tent so the tools and other things can be safe.

Thank You to all the Archaeologists who gave us a wonderful day out!
