 Remain alert at all times  Check surroundings often, listen for warnings  Keep a safe distance from traffic  Stay behind protective barriers, whenever possible  Look out for each other, warn co-workers.

 Discuss safety with staff: especially students, interns and new staff.  Make sure contractor equipment has working back up beepers, mirrors, and lights.  Wear personal protective equipment : vest, boots, hard hat, hi-vis pants, hearing, sun screen, and insect repellant.

 You are small and not easily seen.  Make eye contact with equipment operators.  Be constantly aware of your surroundings.  Have an exit strategy.

 Employees  Shall follow all rules and regulations regarding safety and maintain the high safety and health standards developed and approved by the Department.  Shall report all incidents, accidents and near misses that resulted or could have resulted in personal injury.  Shall maintain safe working conditions and wear appropriate personal protective equipment in designated areas or during operations requiring their use.  Offer safety and health suggestions that would reduce risks to workers.
