ASHRAE Has Four Types of Committees Whose Focus is Primarily on Technical Information Technical Committees (TCs) Task Groups (TGs) Technical Resource Groups (TRGs) Multidisciplinary Task Groups (MTGs) Technical Committees (TCs) Task Groups (TGs) Technical Resource Groups (TRGs) Multidisciplinary Task Groups (MTGs)

What is an ASHRAE Technical Committee (TC)? Group of volunteers who provide the Society with expertise in a specific field or subject. TCs start as a Task Group (TG) when a new technical area develops that is relevant to the Society. TCs are typically long-lived committees. TCs are by far the most numerous of the various technical groups within ASHRAE. Group of volunteers who provide the Society with expertise in a specific field or subject. Many TCs & TGs Participate in the Standards Process in ASHRAE Primary responsibility for document development lies with Standards Project Committees (SPCs) TCs provide liaisons to these committees TC members can serve on Standards Project Committees TCs may be asked to provide concurrence with non-ASHRAE standards (such as those developed by ASTM or ISO) Primary responsibility for document development lies with Standards Project Committees (SPCs) TCs provide liaisons to these committees TC members can serve on Standards Project Committees TCs may be asked to provide concurrence with non-ASHRAE standards (such as those developed by ASTM or ISO)

Handbook Chapters are written by the TCs, TGs, & TRGs TCs, TGs & TRGs are assigned chapters consistent with their expertise/scope Most TCs & TGs have standing handbook subcommittees to write and revise chapters; a TC may be responsible for multiple chapters. TC responsibility for chapters is noted in the Handbooks (as are major content contributors) TCs, TGs & TRGs are assigned chapters consistent with their expertise/scope Most TCs & TGs have standing handbook subcommittees to write and revise chapters; a TC may be responsible for multiple chapters.
