MAIN FORMS OF RENEWABLE ENERGY - WIND POWER. - HYDROPOWER. - SOLAR ENERGY. - BIOFUEL. - GEOTHERMAL ENERGY.

WIND POWER Nowadays, wind power is usually used to produce electrycity. It’s produced by wind turbines. A long time ago wind power was used for mills and for move boats. The problem is it needs a lot of land to built them.

HIDROPOWER Hidropower uses the kinetic energy of the water to produce electricity. The water is not used is keeped in dams. In Catalonia we’ve got a lot of dams because we have many rivers, especially in the “Pirineus”.

SOLAR ENERGY Solar energy uses the sun's energy to produce other energies. The energy is concentrated in a battery into a photovoltaic panel and only comes out when we have to use them. Is often used in homes.

BIOFUEL Biofuels are any fuel derived from biological origin of living organisms or organic debris. The main types are biodiesel (oil), ethanol (alcohol), biogas (natural gas). Biofuels are in a phase of development.

GEOTHERMAL ENERGY Geothermal energy is energy extracted from the earth. This geothermal energy comes from magma inside the earth. This releases heat, and we use that to produce other energies.

MY OPINION I think that renewable energies are good for the planet because we can produce them, and don’t pollute the environment. BASILI MONTURIOL GIMÉNEZ 4t A
