Nevada is a wedge shaped state and is bordered by California to the west and the south, Oregon and Idaho to the north, and Utah and Arizona to the east. Nevada comprises of 110,567 square miles of land making Nevada the seventh largest state. The mountain ranges range from he north to the south and the mountains in between are called basins pronounced [bey-suhn]. Up in northern Nevada, temperature drops to about 0° F which must keep the snow for a while If you reside in Las Vegas, you’re most likely to be wearing shorts almost every day even in the winter. Its hard to tell when the Great basin ends and the Mojave begins but you can tell by the plants that grow there. Since Nevada is known for its desert land, Nevada makes dams to store up water Located in southern Nevada, lies the lit up city of Las Vegas.

Hoover Dam makes the water for the people that live in Nevada and a great place to visit. Pyramid lake isn’t actually a pyramid at all, its just a rock in a lake. The red rock canyon comprises of many different rock formation and this one looks like an elephant The auto mobile museum in Reno comprises of some intriguing cars like this orange car

Nevada got the nickname the Silver State because of the large silver deposits that were discovered and mined in the state. The Comstock Lode is the most famous mine in Nevada. The state seal represents a little cabin with a train riding in the distance. The state animal for Nevada is the Desert bighorn sheep and the Colorado state animal is the Rocky Bighorn Sheep. The state flower of Nevada is the Sagebrush because it is a desert like plant which represents Nevada. The desert tortoise is Nevada’s state reptile because it can survive in the dessert with little water unlike several other tortoises.

Nevada became a state on October 31, 1861 and is the 36 th state
