Paper 5: Speaking Time: 14 minutes No. of parts: 4 (two candidates) – Part 1: general conversation (3 min.) – Part 2: photo description and expressing opinions (4 min.) – Part 3: two-way conversation (3 min.) – Part 4: justifying opinions (4 min.)

Paper 5: Speaking Tips: - Answer the actual question. If you don’t understand, say so (as many times as necessary). - Listen to your partner and react by commenting what he or she says. - Body language is important. Keep eye contact and you can use your hands. (Avoid hats, sunglasses and chewing gum.) Act as natural as possible and try not to fidget. Don’t be nervous.

Paper 2: Writing Writing an article When you read an article, what do you expect from it? Can you use questions and give answers in an article? Is an article formal or informal? Remember Prepare a plan (divide your article in paragraphs) Don’t waste time counting words (check to see how many lines you have used) Check your grammar, spelling and punctuation.

Paper 2: Writing Plan your article Work out a paragraph plan. Think about what you will write in your first and last paragraphs. How many other paragraphs will you need? Remember to plan a new paragraph for each main idea. Think of a suitable title and interesting first sentence. Who is going to read this article? Think about people of your own age: what kind of thing interests them? Can you include your own opinions and any personal anecdotes? What style and tone would be appropriate – Informal? Personal? Humorous?
