WELCOME TO WORLDPEARL

Who are we? The WorldPearl story started in 1985 when the original Jersey Pearl was opened by the Scragg family. Today there are still three family members on the Board of Directors, Fred Scragg, Michael Scragg and John Taylor. In addition, after a period as a consultant to the company Gary Martin joined as a Director and shareholder in 2003.

Where are we? Once Jersey Pearl was established the family continued to expand by opening Isle of Wight Pearl in 1988 and Cornwall Pearl in 1989. Following on from these venue locations a selection of UK ‘town shops’ were opened between 1991 – 1994. The expansion continued and new markets were assessed which led to the opening of Tenerife Pearl in 1996 and Perla Canaria in 1998 and various Canary Islands ‘town shops’ in the last couple of years. As a group we employ between 150- 180 people across our sites dependent on the time of year.

What do we do? WorldPearl is one of the largest retailer of pearls in the world. Our strategy of specialising in pearls leads us to have a level of stock, expertise and knowledge not found in a traditional jeweller. Our venues are all based in holiday/tourist areas and the success of the company has been partly as a result of the venue experience and the wide product range available and partly due to the strong partnerships we have formed with hoteliers, tour operators, coach companies and car hire firms. Our shops are based in either retail High Street town locations or in tourist resorts and centres.
