4 th Quarter Book Report Mrs. Bradley May 6, 2013

The Mouse and the Motorcycle By Beverly Cleary Illustrated by Louis Darling Adventure Copyright 1965

Setting Place 215 of the Mountain View Inn, located in the California foothills. Time Present day

Main Characters Ralph S. Mouse Physical Traits: Tiny tan mouse Large ears and long tail Character Traits: Adventurous Curious Loyal determined Keith Physical Traits: A young boy Brown hair Character Traits: Sympathetic Generous Eager loyal

Plot In the beginning, Ralph is cautious of humans who come and go while staying in room 215 at the hotel. He has always had a thrill for adventure however, he was limited to sneaking around the second floor by traveling through walls and floor boards. It wasn’t until he met Keith when he learned of a more exciting way to explore. After Keith generously shared his toy motorcycle with Ralph, he found himself in all sorts of trouble. First, Ralph had to escape one of the most horrible monster a mouse could be up against. The vacuum! His fight for his life lead him to the laundry room. This is where he got stuck in the laundry basket and had to chew his way of the bed sheets. Finally, Ralph had to test his skills by traveling all through the hotel to locate an Aspirin for Keith. Unfortunately he was tossed outside where he met a hungry owl. In the end, Ralph was able to defeat all the challenges in front of him to help save his new best friend.

Problem & Solution Problem Keith gets sick after returning from a hiking trip. He needs medicine and Ralph is determined to find it for his friend. Solution Ralph is able to rely on his driving skills to track down an Aspirin pill for Keith. Once he eats the pill, he begins to feel better.

Rating I enjoyed reading this adventurous book because it always kept me wondering what will happen next. Reading this book made me want to read additional stories of Ralph S. Mouse by Beverly Cleary. I would recommend this book to my little sister, Izzy, because she loves to read about animals.
