Roll Of Thunder Hear My Cry Mildred Taylor By: Ahmad Zaher

The characters of the story are the ones who have roles in the story. Without characters it is not a complete story.

Characters Ms. Crocker T.J. Mary (mama) Big Ma Christopher John Papa Mr. Morrison Uncle Hammer Mr. Barnett Ms. Barnett Mr.& Ms. Avery Mr. Simms Lillian jeans Melvin R.W. Jeremy Cassie Stacey Little Man Ms. Crocker Christopher John

3 points about 5 characters T.J. : T.J. was a lonely kid who tried to fit in. T.J. abandoned his group of people because white people decided to treat him nicely. T.J. always wanted a pearl handed pistol. R.W. : R.W. was one of the whites that were hanging out with T.J.. He is one Mr. Simms son. He is a very rich kid. Melvin: Melvin and R.W. are brothers. He infiltrated Mr. Barnett's house. He was the other person who was with T.J.. Jeremy: Jeremy is also Mr. Simms son. He is nice to the blacks not like his family. Jeremy doesn’t ride the school bus with the other whites because he thinks its not fair to the blacks. Mr. Morrison: Mr. Morrison used to work with Papa. He got fired because he killed 2 whites. He and the Logan's kids slammed Kalleb Wallace's house.

Setting/time The setting is where the story took place. The time of the story is when the story was made. The setting took place in Mississippi U.S.A. . The time this book was made was in the 1930s.

Plot/Events The plots of the story were: when T.J. died. Another plot was when the Wallace's shot papa’s leg. Another was when papa made the fire to stop the fighting.

Conflict/problem The conflict/problem was the whites always discriminated the blacks and made fun of them. So then some of the blacks wanted to fight with the whites, and then it be a conflict. Then the Logan kids dug a ditch and got revenge on the whites by making their school bus fall in the ditch. The problem was that T.J. died because the Simms's kids (R.W., Melvin) stole a Pearl handed pistol from Mr. Barnett, when T.J. was with them and then they blamed it on T.J.

Solution The solution was when papa started the fire to stop them from fighting. When he started the fire everyone stopped doing what they were doing. Then they all started helping each other to put out the fire. This is the solution to the book.

Protagonist The protagonist is the hero of the or saver. I think the protagonist in my point of view in the story “ Roll Of Thunder Hear My Cry” is Mr. Logan. The reason is because he sacrificed his own land to save T.J.. He also made everyone stop what they were doing to put out the fire. The white people were helping the blacks to put out the fire and they probably didn’t even realize it.

Antagonist The antagonist of the story is the evil person or the bad guy. In my point of view I think the antagonist in the story “Roll Of Thunder hear My Cry” are: R.W, Melvin, Mr. Barnett (mercantile). R.W. and Melvin are mostly antagonists because R.W, Melvin and T.J. stole from Mr. Barnett store. After they stole from his shop they blamed it on T.J. so then T.J. had to pay the price. I think Harlan Granger is also the antagonist because he tried anything to take away the land from the Logan’s. He would threaten them by telling them that if the Logan’s didn’t give him the land they would have to give him 50 % of the cotton.

Theme The main purpose of this book was to show us the way people (blacks) used to live. It was to show us how people disobeyed Allah’s rule about how people had levels. They used to level people by making one person more important than the other. For example when they were in strawberry, T.J. gave them the list and Mr. Barnett ignored them and did the white girls order.
