WHY IS THE AYF A NONPROFIT?

ARMENIAN YOUTH FEDERATION Based on what you’ve just learned, why do YOU think the AYF is considered a nonprofit?

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE AYF Founded in 1933, the Armenian Youth Federation serves as the youth organization of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation. The AYF stands on five pillars that guide its activities: Educational, Hai Tahd, Social, Athletic and Cultural. Moreover, the AYF promotes a fraternal attitude of respect for ideas and individuals amongst its membership. Unity and cooperation are essential traits that allow members of the organization to work together to realize the AYF’s objectives.

MISSION OF THE AYF The Aims and Purposes of the AYF-YOARF are as follows: To bring together Armenian youth, to work in cooperation with the Armenian Revolutionary Federation To prepare Armenian youth for future membership in the Armenian Revolutionary Federation To engage the youth in active involvement in the Armenian community; To foster nationalistic pride amongst all Armenian youth through educational, political, cultural, athletic, and social activities. To organize, nurture and educate youth in the spirit invoked by the ideals of a united, free and independent Armenia

WHAT’S IN IT FOR ME?

How can being in the AYF help me in the “REAL WORLD”? COMMUNITY LEADERS!  Working side by side with the leaders in your community!  Attending and participating in organizational meetings, community gatherings, political events, seminars, conventions, olympics, and working with advisors, members of the board of trustees, directors etc. POSITIVITY!  Working for a good cause, feeing passionate about what you're doing, increasing your own and others’ awareness about the Armenian culture and history and make the world a better place! EDUCATIONAL!  You learn about our culture, history and traditions and get to "wear many hats" and participate in a variety of activities that you otherwise would only read about…

FUNDRAISING FUNDAMENTALS A SNEAK PREVIEW OF THE WORLD OF FUNDRAISING

DEFINING FUNDRAISING Fund-raising (fund’rā’ zing), noun  the act or occupation of soliciting money for charitable organizations, political parties, etc. More importantly:  The belief and passion for the mission of an organization “Sincerity is a fundraiser’s greatest asset” - GuideStar

PUT ON YOUR THINKING CAP…

FUNDRAISING BRAINSTORM Fundraisers have to be persistent and get creative… How many ways can you think of to raise money?

 Special events  Grants  Individual donors – “friend-raise!”  Corporate donors  Board of Directors  Membership fees
