Building Design Portfolio Bottle Rockets By Stephanie G

Materials One,1 liter or less plastic carbonated beverage bottle. Tape Glue Scissors Thick Construction Paper (for Fins)

Pros and Cons… Masking Tape vs. Scotch tape: Scotch tape is thinner than masking tape, but also weaker. Masking tape on the other hand, is a lot stronger, but can add more weight, making the Bottle Rocket not stay high enough.

Pros and Cons Big fins vs Small Fins Some people believe that the smaller the fin, the less weight it is going to be, making it go higher. That is NOT all the way true. Larger fins near farther up the rocket work just as well as small ones lower down.

Nose Cone The Cone is the top of the rocket. It is usually pointy or rounded. This is used to stabilize the rocket.

Fins The fins are usually near the middle- bottom of the rocket. The fins usually have 3-4 sides. The way the fins help the rocket is again like the nose cone that helps stable the rocket by putting the center of the pressure behind the center of gravity.

Design Plan Here is the link to my step-by step design plan in Microsoft.

Test Plan I know this is my best design because I made the rocket as light weight as I could (with the recovery system). With all of the math on the fins, it should go the highest it can go, with just about an estimate of 11 meters.

The Proof Here is all of the details/ mesurment that you need to know. Amount of Space in-between each fin: cm. Circumference:26.67 Diameter: 7.62 Length:15 cm by 5 cm
