History of Hotels The hotels of Detroit have rich historic backgrounds. For example, the Westin Book Cadillac hotel housed Babe Ruth, John F. Kennedy and many more! The Inn on Ferry Street used to be a seed factory! The Inn on 97 Winder used to be on 51 Winder! Each hotel also fulfills their costumer’s wants and needs. Their wants are fulfilled with luxurious service at each hotel and needs are fulfilled by providing their costumers with the necessary food.

The Inn on Ferry Street formerly housed a seed company (Ferry Seed Company). It became an inn in 2000 when it was renovated. Past Present

The Inn At 97 Winder was originally a mansion in Than the house was turned in to a civil war home for orphanage children. In the 1920’s the home was than turned in to a rooming house, finally to its present day form, the Inn at 97 winder. Past Present

The Madison Lenox was opened in It was renovated in 1955, but they received low income and closed officially in Past Present

The Leland Hotel was opened in In 1965 the hotel got 4.3 million dollars as a loan so they renovated by putting in apartments, a parking garage and a pool. In 1983 the Leland Hotel was turned into the Industrial City Club. Past Present

The Westin Book Cadillac opened in 1924., the tallest hotel in the world at that time. The hotel plummeted in the late 1920’s from the economy went down. The doors closed in 1984, and liquidated in But in 2006 they renovated into the flourishing hotel they have now. Past Present

The ways businesses have changed over time Hotels have changed in a lot of ways. The biggest being pricing. In the early 1900’s, the average price was around $8 dollars a night. Now its about $90 - $150 dollars a night. Another big change is size. Hotels now can reach well over 100 stories. In the early 1900’s, hotels reached a regular height of about 20 stories. The remodeling is also a big change. They have bigger rooms, there are TVs in the rooms, king sized beds, etc. One more big change is the service. Back in the early 1900’s, hotels didn't have room service, skilled chefs, valet parking, maid service and more.

Future for Hotels We think that hotels will gradually become grander in height and service. We believe that this will happen to the hotel because the hotels have changed so much in the past 100 years, just think how much they can change in the next hundred years. The hotels will most likely get taller because we have more experience and skill to do so. The hotels service will get better because the service people have more experience and learn from other people from early in the hotel business.
