How to propose A new Member

Rogers Noon Rotary Every Rotarian has: The privilege The obligation To seek qualified members.

Membership Is the means to accomplish Rotary’s Mission and goals.

General Qualifications Rotarians are adults of good character and good business or professional reputation. They hold or have held an executive position with discretionary authority in any worthy and recognized business or profession.

Rotary Handbook for member qualifications Is the individual ABOVE REPROACH? Are they men and women of GOOD CHARACTER who possess an EXCELLENT BUSINESS or PROFESSIONAL REPUTATIONS? Is the REPUTATION of the INDIVIUDALS FIRM EXEMPLARY? Can the candidate meet the FINANCIAL OBLIGATIONS of membership and ATTEND WEEKLY MEETINGS? Is the candidate committed to GETTING INVOLVED in CLUB PROJECTS, PROGRAMS, and COMMITTEE’S or is the candidate really interested in a networking club? The membership committee assists the board in investigating the character, business or profession, community standing, and general eligibility of all people proposed for membership.

Active Membership Active members must meet the previous stated qualifications, as well as have liveed or work within the club’s locality or surrounding area for a least 6 months.

Honorary Membership People who have distinguished themselves by meritorious service in the furtherance of Rotary ideals may be elected to honorary membership.

Classification Each ACTIVE member of a Rotary Club is classified in accordance with their business or profession. A classification describes the principal and recognized activity of the firm with which an active member is connected or the member’s principal business or professional activity.

How many per Classification The club shall not elect a person to ACTIVE membership if it will cause that classification to exceed 10% of the club’s active membership. Retired members require a classification but are not included in total numbers of classification.

Holders of Public Office Holders of public office, Persons elected or appointed to public office for a specified time ARE NOT eligible for ACTIVE membership under that classification, except persons elected or appointed to the judiciary or educational offices.

STANDARD PROSPECTIVE MEMBER PROCEDURE NAME IS SUBMITTED to board of directors. Candidate is not introduced to club as prospective member until membership committee and board: –ensures that the person is fully qualified and approves or disapproves the proposal within 30 days. –The PROPOSER IS THEN NOTIFIED of the decision by the club secretary.

Note: Until approval is granted, prospective members SHOULD NOT be informed that they have been proposed for membership. After approval has been announced, the prospective member will be fully oriented in the mission and responsibilities of being a member of our club.

At that time He or she is asked to complete the proposal form and give written permission to publish his or her name and proposed classification to the club membership. If no objections are received within seven (7) days following the publication, the nominee completes the installation process and becomes a NEW ROTARIAN.
