Presentation transcript:

The Quinceañera selects a dress to wear to church. The dress is traditionally white but the Quinceañera can select her own color.

The Quinceañera will have a special Mass that is set aside for her to be presented and blessed.

The Quinceañera will take part in the Mass.

The bouquet of flowers that the Quinceañera presents to the Virgin Mary is usually a bouquet of REAL roses. No fake flowers can be presented to the Virgin Mary.

The Quinceañera will need to present some flowers to the Virgin Mary.

After the Mass the family will take pictures with the Priest and the Quinceañera

The Quinceañera with her mother at church taking pictures

The Quinceañera with her court. In a Quinceañera the Quinceañera will chose 7 of her best/closest friends and will have them choose someone to escort them so they can all escort her ( the Quinceañera) to Church and to the Ballroom after Church.

Again with her court of damas (girls) and chamberlains (boys). Damas is what the girls that escort her are called Chamberlains is what the boys that escort the girls are called

The father just gave his daughter her last doll

The father and daughter will dance with the last doll that was given to her. While they are dancing, a song in Spanish that talks about how this will be her last doll and how he (the father) remembers her as a child will be playing in the background.

The Quinceañera shows off her tennis shoes before they will be taken off by her father.

The father then proceeds toward the Quinceañera with the high heels on a pillow to change her shoes from tennis shoes to high heels.

This symbolizes how the daughter will be changing from a girl (tennis shoes) to a young lady (high heels)

The Quinceañera is placed at the center of the dance floor so the father can make the shoe changing.

The Quinceañera is kissed by her parents before being presented as a young lady.

After the shoes are changed the mother and father get ready to present their young lady to the people that are present.

The Quinceañera will dance to a Waltz with her court and her main Chamberlain (usually a relative) after her parents present her to the crowd. The Main Chamberlain will be the one that will escort her and dance with her personally.

The Quinceañera gets a cake that would almost be the size of a wedding cake.

The Quinceañera’s bouquet, champagne glass, and other things

The Quinceañera and her parents will “Thank the people for attending” and will call out some special relative names for helping out “financially” with the event. In a Quinceañera, relatives that help out are called “padrinos” (Godparents), it is very important that relatives take part in helping out and that they are recognized by the family during the event.
