Los Angeles City Hall Advance on click

The city hall was built in It is 32 stories high and 454 feet tall. For many years by law it was the tallest building in downtown Los Angeles.

Looking north from the top of City Hall. The old town is to the right.

The view to the north east. Union Station is in the center. The tall building is the Metropolitan Transit District headquarters.

Looking west. The large building is the headquarters of Los Angeles Water and Power. To the left is the Los Angeles County Superior Court building.

Looking south. On the left is the Cal Trans District 7 headquarters. Center is the new police building. On the right is the Los Angeles Times.

Looking to the south west, the new financial center.

The large building in the distance is the old Sears building. In the foreground is Japan Town. This is the view to the south east from the top of the City Hall.

There are three jails in this picture. The windowless structure in the foreground, a five story structure to the far left and the windowless brown building. The county hospital is in the distance.

This view is to the north east. Union station is in the middle. The tall structure is the transit district headquarters and the large white building in the distance is the county hospital.

This is the 101 freeway that runs through downtown.

The End These photos are from a 2012 trip, our last trip to Los Angeles. The tour of the City Hall is conducted by the Los Angeles Conservancy. It is a great tour. In our group there were a lot of Los Angelenos who added interesting commentary including a fellow whose grandfather owned the land on which the City Hall sits.
