Alexis shook Mrs. Martin’s 2nd Period

  A book of the Bible states, “Though Shalt not suffer a witch to live”.  For about 400 years, many innocent people were accused of doing black magic aka, witchcraft.  Puritans left to find new land in the Seventeenth Century. In 1692, the land which they had found was called Salem. Salem was divided into two areas. The Salem town, and the Salem village.  The Salem town had political and religious freedom over the other village.  The village people, were very scared that god would punish them for their act of violence. In return of that the villagers made very strict rules about their people. Intro page 1

  The Puritans had a great fear of witches. The only book they followed was the Bible.  In Salem, girls mostly baked bread, turned butter or sewed clothes or tend to younger children.  Unusual events started happening in One by one girls within the village began to fall into fits of screaming or crying, rolling around uncontrollably.  They claimed they talked to the devil or spirits.  The one’s who refused to do chores and other activities were rumored as a witch.  The only most likely way you could get out of it, was getting pregnant quick.  Intro page 2

  Tituba was a slave born in Barbados.  She was owned by Reu. Samuel Parris.  She would take care of the Parris house hold on a day to day basis.  Tituba would care for Paris’s children. But around that time she was accused of being a witch.  The children she took care of, said weird things about tituba. She told them stories of magic. Later on tituba was jailed for witchcraft. www2.iath.virginia.edu

  Sarah good was accused of being a witch.  She faced the condemnation of the villagers, and was given a trial, but no one questioned her.  Her own husband spoke out against her. Saying she had a five year old daughter named “Docras” who was later on accused and imprisoned also.  On July 19, 1692 was the lead to “Gallows Hill” to be executed. spookyfiles.com

  Giles Corey was a fairly wealthy famer growing up.  Many accused Corey a wizard at the age of 8 because he was somewhat a creeper.  Later on, he didn’t plead non guilty and suffered from being pressed to death.  He was striped then they would take cement blocks and put it on his chest until he died from his chest or lungs pretty much being crushed.  He Died on Sept 19, coryfamsoc.com

  Anne was born in Salem.  She showed signs of Be-Witched. Accused by Tituba, and others of witchcraft.  Accused by all of the towns people and others. bmshistory7p9.wi kispaces.com

  By the age of 23, Bridget was already married 3 times!  Her Recent Husband at the time accused her of witchcraft. “Speaking with the devil”.  She was accused being a witch Many times.  Later on she was found “guilty”.  She was later on hanged so no one in the village had to worry about her anymore. kristam18.edublogs.org

  I believe that the Salem witch trials were all fake. All the girls were just joking around then it got a little too out of hand so they just kept continuing, which led to people dyeing because they were accused of speaking with the devil. If the people didn’t start rolling into fits falling to the floor in my opinion none of this would have happened.  If I was accused of being a witch. I’d get pregnant fast.  Its actually not a stupid idea, because most other options are crazy. If you plead non-guilty they think your guilty. If you plead guilty your guilty. Conclusion
