Prevention What should you do? »Wear gloves and other protective clothing »Replace damaged or dirty gloves »Keep yourself, your gloves & your workplace clean »Keep any cuts covered »Use and store gloves correctly

Skin care regime Wash any contamination from skin promptly Dry hands carefully and gently; use soft cotton or paper towels Use a suitable water based emollient / moisturising cream to protect your skin

Risks - Skin Burns Skin Burns from Cement If wet cement becomes trapped against the skin, for example by kneeling in it or if cement falls into a boot or glove, a serious burn or ulcer can rapidly develop

Warning signs »Discoloration of the skin, gradually changing to a deep purple-blue colour »Serious chemical burns to the eyes can also be caused following a splash of cement. »Cement burns can also lead to allergic dermatitis.
