Yes, it is highly recommended to install latest PUM to get all latest Required for Upgrade Fixes Should I always download and install latest PUM image? Yes, it is good practice to install latest PUM image and review for any critical fixes. Can PUM be used as Source Database for Upgrade? No. The Upgrade Source image should be used for Upgrades. Upgrade images can be used by customers who are ‘English Only’ and running on an Oracle Database. Frequently Asked Questions - Cont Can the PUM/Update images be used on virtualization platforms other than Virtual Box? Oracle/PeopleSoft does not test or officially support the usage of the Update images using any virtualization platforms other than Virtual Box. This being said, the Update images which are provided as industry standard OVA image files should work with other virtualization platforms as well, but which may require different configurations and modifications to the OVA image file in order to successfully use them.
