Sexual Assault Mandated Reporter Training UNCW RV-SART

Clery Act 1990 Student Right to Know and Campus Security Act Campuses must disclose: Annual Crime Statistics Sexual Assault Policy victims rights victims options Mandated Reporting of Sexual Assault by key personnel “with significant responsibility for student life”

Why Mandated Reporting? In addition to complying with the law, there are other significant benefits of the anonymous notification system. When an assault occurs, we want survivors and those they tell about their assault to know that there are 24-hr services available to them. UNCW wants to insure that students receive accurate and timely information about the resources on-and off-campus for assault survivors. UNCW needs a clearer picture of sexual assault occurrences, both on-campus and in our wider community.

Who Are Mandated Reporters? Housing & Residence Life Office of the Dean of Students Athletics Student Activities Campus Recreation *Advisors to student organizations *Anyone with significant responsibility for student life * These are included as a result of recent interpretations of the Clery Act intent.

What Are Mandated Reporter Duties? Advise student of campus/community resources. Complete required section of Anonymous Notification form. Complete optional sections of Anonymous Notification form only with student’s consent. Submit form to Chief Donaldson/University Police.
