Action

Breeds There are over 100 breeds. There are 4 horses that I am going to tell you about. An American Quarter horse occupations such as trail riding. An Appaloosa Horse has a spotted coat and fur is its most recognize characteristic. Cold bloods are larger, gentle horses for working or hauling. A Hanoverian horse is a breed of horse that excels in jumping, dressage, and eventing. Back Quarter Horse Appaloosa Horse Cold bloods Hanoverian horse

Activities There are many activities you can do with horses. Some activities are riding, carting, and working. A Quarter, Paint, Albino, Appaloosa, and a Arabian are some horses that are for riding. A Exmoor, Friensian, Gidran, Pleven, and Morgan are horses that are for carting. A Warm blood, Florida cracker, Breton, and Clydesdale are some horses for working. Back

Movement There are 5 types of movements. The 5 movements are: Walk, trot, lope, canter gallop. Back

Food There are many different type of foods. Here are some types of foods: Hay, grass, treats, and horse feed. Some type of treats are: apples, carrots, pepper mint, and sugar cubes. They also need water. Back Hay Horse feed Treats Grass

Equipment There are many different types of equipment that you need to ride. Things you need to ride a horse is: Halter, whip, bridle, saddle, saddle pad, saddle blanket, girth, lounge rope, and a cart. Halter Back

Weight The average horse weighs 1,210 pounds. This is an average across all breeds, as weight varies among breeds and is impacted by nutrition, age and health. Light riding horses can weigh as little as little as 840 pounds, while large draft horses can weigh up to 2,200 pounds. There are over 300 different breeds of horses, but most reach full size and weight by the age of five. The largest horse ever recorded was a Shire horse named Mammoth. He was born in 1848 and weighed 3,300 pounds. The smallest horse on record is a miniature horse that also suffers from dwarfism named Thumbelina. She weighs a scant 57 pounds. Back

Height The average height of a horse depends on the type and breed. The average height of Quarter Horses is 15 hands high, or 15 height. The average height of Hanoverians is 18 height. Horses are measured in "hands," which equal the width of a man’s palm, or approximately 4 inches. Back
