Review Pun A play on words. When two words with different meanings are used-and both meanings make sense within the sentence. Example: Are we all on the same page? – Meaning 1-page in the book – Meaning 2-page as in understanding

Page 48 Lines 10 & 11 – “But let them measure us by what they will. (judge) We’ll measure them a measure and be gone. (dance) Lines 15 & 16 – “You have dancing shoes with nimble (light) soles. (soles of a shoe) I have a soul of lead” (heavy soul or spirit)

Queen Mab: What does she look like? Fairy/Queen of Dreams No bigger than a stone on a ring Her wagon is pulled by atoms Rides over men’s noses as they sleep Wagon spokes made of spider legs The cover of her wagon is made of grasshopper’s wings Chariot made of a hazelnut Harness made of spider webs Her whip is made of cricket’s bones A gnat(bug) is her driver

What does she do? Drives over people’s noses as they sleep and bring them dreams. – Lovers dream of love + – Over men looking for a woman-they dream of girls curtsying + – Lawyers dream of $$$$ +/- – Ladies lips-they dream of kisses-sometimes she brings them blisters +/- – Soldiers dream of cutting foreign throats +/- Queen Mab can bring good dreams, but good things can become bad. Be careful what you wish for……

Why does Mercutio go on and on about Queen Mab??? To convince Romeo that his dream cannot predict the future. Lines 97 & 98 “Thou talk’st of nothing…” Mercutio “True, I talk of dreams.”

Romeo’s Dream: Lines Romeo’s dream told him if he goes to this party, there will be a consequence. The consequence is an early death.
