Controlled Development Zone Smart Infrastructures and Holistic Communities 4 Promotion of transit, pedestrian and cycle oriented development and use innovative green solutions in infrastructure and utilities planning. Transit Oriented Development (TOD) TOD is characterized by a pedestrian-oriented environment that allows people to live, work, shop and play in places accessible by transit. Design criteria for TODs are: A mix of uses Moderate to high density Pedestrian orientation/connectivity Transportation choices Reduced parking High quality design Pedestrian Oriented Development (POD) POD is a pedestrian friendly policy that is providing clear, comfortable pedestrian access to commercial and residential areas and transit stops. POD is within 400m walking distances from the transit nodes. It is a combination of land design practice that includes compact development, mixed-use, traffic calming, pedestrian and public transit-orientation and mixed housing types. Cycle Oriented Development (COD) COD is a space in urban areas that is designed for the use of bicycles dominantly rather than automobiles. It should be adopted in townships in IM.
