Sin No More… STEALING  Definition of Stealing:  to take the property of another without permission or right, secretly or by force  the wrongful taking and carrying away of the personal goods or property of another  Legal: to take or appropriate without right or consent and with intent to keep or make use of  thievery, smuggle, burglarize, rip off, rob  Thief, Burglar, Robber, Smuggler, Cheat

You Shall Not Steal  Exodus 20:1-17 –  “You shall not steal.”  Exodus 22:1-14 –  “If a man steals an ox or a sheep, and slaughters it or sells it, he shall restore five oxen for an ox and four sheep for a sheep.”

Example of Achan  Joshua 7:10-26 –  (11) “Israel has sinned… For they have even taken some of the accursed things, and have both stolen and deceived; and they have also put it among their own stuff.”  (15) “Then it shall be that he who is taken with the accursed thing shall be burned with fire, he and all that he has, because he has transgressed the covenant of the Lord, and because he has done a disgraceful thing in Israel.”

Put Away Stealing & Labor/Work  Ephesians 4:28 –  “Let him who stole steal no longer, but rather let him labor, working with his hands what is good, that he may have something to give him who has need.”

Put Away Stealing & Labor/Work  II Thessalonians 3:10 –  “For even when we were with you, we commanded you this: If anyone will not work, neither shall he eat.”

Put Away Stealing & Labor/Work  I Timothy 5:8 –  “But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.”

Put Away Stealing & Labor/Work  Colossians 3:22-24 –  “And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ.”

Conclusion  Stealing is sin & we must treat it that way.  Stealing is serious.  Steal involves harming our neighbor.  Stealing separates us from God, from God’s blessings, and from God’s promises.  Stealing will keep us out of heaven.  We are to work with our hands that we may be able to provide for our family & help another in need.  We are to love our neighbor as ourselves and seek to do good to all men.

Conclusion  Ephesians 4:28 –  “Let him who stole steal no longer”

God’s Plan of Salvation  Hear the Word of God (Acts 2:22)  Believe in Jesus (John 8:24)  Repent of Sins (Acts 17:30)  Confess Faith in Christ (Matthew 10:32)  Be Baptized in Water (Acts 2:38)  Remain Faithful & Grow(II Peter 3:18)  If err, repent and pray to God (I John 1:9)

Lord’s Supper  Partaking of the Bread:  Matthew 26:26 –  “Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to the disciples and said, ‘Take, eat; this is my body”

Lord’s Supper  Partaking of the Fruit of the Vine:  Matthew 26:27-28 –  “Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, ‘Drink from it, all of you. For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins”
