True Israel Seeks God’s Righteousness Three keys to seeking God’s righteousness: 2)They make room for it –“Establish”—to stand up; to erect as a memorial –“I have endeavored to read the scriptures as though no one had read them before me, and I am as much on my guard against reading them today through the medium of my own views yesterday or a week ago, as I am against being influenced by any foreign name, authority, or system whatever.” –I Timothy 2:15 …rightly dividing…

True Israel Seeks God’s Righteousness Three keys to seeking God’s righteousness: 3)They submit to it –Acts 7:39 To whom our fathers would [active determination] not obey, but thrust him from them, and in their hearts turned back again into Egypt –Luke 9:23 And he said to them all, If any man will [active determination] come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me

7. True Israel Seeks It by Faith Romans 9:32 Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone

8. True Israel Seeks It by Faith The motivation for seeking God’s righteousness is faith –I Timothy 1:19-20 Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck… –Some had been: Feigning faith (1:5) Desiring unearned positions (1:7)

True Israel Displays Its Faith Romans 10:9-10 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

True Israel Displays Its Faith 3 indications that the focus is a displayed faith: 1) Confession is placed before belief 2)Romans 10:11 …Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. 3)The phrase repeated is “calling on the name of the Lord” –Romans 10:12, 13, 14 John 12:42 …but because of the Pharisees they did not confess Him…

12. Consider During the Lord’s Supper: Matthew 26:26-29 And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body. And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it; For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom.
