The Lone Sailor Statue Project The 7-foot-tall bronze Lone Sailor, created by artist Stanley Bleifeld, is the centerpiece of the U.S. Navy Memorial in Washington, D.C. It represents all people who ever served, are serving now, or have yet to serve in the Navy. The "Lone Sailor" is envisioned as a senior second class petty officer "who is fast becoming a seagoing veteran.” "He has done it all — fired his weapons in a dozen wars, weighed anchor from a thousand ports, tracked supplies, doused fires, repelled boarders, typed in quadruplicate, and mess-cooked, too."

The Lone Sailor Statue Project The Pacific Northwest is the third largest concentration of U.S. Naval Forces. Naval Base Kitsap is one of the most desirable duty stations for today’s Sailor. who go down to the sea in shipsKitsap County, Washington is a most fitting location for an inspiring memorial to those “ who go down to the sea in ships.” Bring the “Lone Sailor” to Kitsap!!!

The Lone Sailor Statue Project “Ship’s Homeport - Sailor’s Hometown” - Bremerton Catchphrase “The Lone Sailor Statue would be a wonderful addition to the Harborside District and Marina. Let’s make it happen!” - Cary Bozeman - Mayor of Bremerton Bring the “Lone Sailor” to Bremerton!!!

The Lone Sailor Statue Project FUNDRAISING Our goal is to raise $300,000 to complete this project. $200,000 is needed to purchase the statue from the U.S. Navy Memorial Foundation. The additional $100,000 would be for site development, fundraising costs, and a proper dedication ceremony. We’ve received $100,000 from the C. Keith Birkenfeld Memorial Trust and the Seattle Foundation - the rest from folks like you… Bring the “Lone Sailor” to Puget Sound!!!
