Elevator Pitch

Elevator Pitch Guidelines You have 30 to 60 seconds to explain the Alumni Association. Your 3 Goals: 1.Draw them in, 2.Tell them what we do 3.Communicate why they need to join.

The Pitch: Draw them in. Who We Are: The Alumni Association is a membership organization that serves as a hub to connect Michigan alumni to one another and to all of the resources of the University of Michigan. We come together for shared interests like advancing your career, celebrating our athletic achievements and giving back to support students and alumni. We’ve created clubs and spirit groups across the country so you can have Michigan when and where you need it. Proof Points: 63+ Clubs and Spirit Groups across the country Access to University Resources – online learning, athletic department tickets, tailgates and bowl tours Over a dozen career programs tailored for all stages of your career Over $1M each year in Club Scholarships and LEAD

The Pitch: What we do. The Role We Play: Your Michigan experience is bigger than just the school or college you attended - it’s about our shared experiences as students and now as alumni. The Alumni Association is the best way for alumni to come together to support scholarships, mentor students and alumni, and give back to our communities. We keep the U-M spirit alive. Proof Points: The U-M / Ann Arbor experience is interconnected – and we are here to bring that total community to you Our magazine, weekly newsletters, tweets, FB posts let you go back, but keep current too on everything at Ann Arbor and U-M Each year we host hundreds of community service days, game-watch parties, and scholarship events. Each club is a vibrant community of alumni of all ages

The Pitch: Why join. The Ask! The Close: Becoming a member of the Alumni Association allows you to get connected and involved in our extraordinary Michigan community. You’re an integral part of the alumni network, and when we get together to give back, learn from each other, and keep the U-M spirit close, we continue the Michigan traditions so firmly rooted in us. Join us today. Proof Points: We are nearly 100,000 members here for Michigan, here for one another and for current and future students We have over 42,000 lifetime members We are entirely self-funded by member dues and contributions (we do not receive any funds from the University) Clubs are funded based on the # of members in their areas – the more members, the more funds go right back into their local activities Help us grow to 180,000 and shape what it means to be a Michigan Alumni Association member
