Care, Cleaning, and Maintenance of

Introduction This presentation will cover how to properly clean and maintain your new Patient Care Central Toppers™ Proper cleaning and maintenance will ensure that the dry-erase writing surface of the Topper is not damaged or scratched.

Topics of Discussion We will discuss: Daily dry-erase surface care and maintenance Approved products to use to clean Toppers Products not to use to clean Toppers* * Use of non-approved products or procedures will void the Patient Care Central Topper Warrantee.

Daily Maintenance Important: treat the Patient Care Central Topper™ surface like you would a pair of glasses - only soft non- abrasive materials should ever touch it! It is very important to properly clean the surface to maintain the dry-erase ability of the surface. Remove dry-erase markings with a felt eraser. Press firmly when erasing, using a circular motion. Replace erasers as they become dirty. A dirty eraser will leave ink residue on the writing surface. For daily cleaning, or as needed, rinse the surface with soapy water, glass cleaner, or acetone. This can be done with a sponge or a soft cloth. Acetone will even remove ink from permanent markers. Allow markers to dry 5 seconds before erasing. If erased while still damp it may smear or “ghost”

Approved Cleaning Products When the dry-erase surface needs to be thoroughly cleaned due to “GHOSTING” use only the following approved cleaners: Expo Dry-Erase board Cleaner Windex® Glass Cleaner 70% Isopropyl Alcohol Mild soap and water Acetone If the Topper needs to be disinfected, only use Virex TB. It is the only disinfectant approved for use with Patient Care Central Toppers.

Cleaning Products to Avoid DO NOT use the the following products on your Toppers: Abrasive cleaners Abrasive pads Paper Towels Any disinfectant other than Virex TB Organic cleaners (orange, lime) The use of the above products will ruin the dry-erase surface.

DO NOT USE Abrasive Pads or Towels Abrasive Cleaners

Markers to Avoid SHARPIE Pens or other permanent markers If permanent marker is used first try writing over it with a dry-erase marker and then erase. If that does not work, then use Acetone. Dry Erase Markers EXPO BOLD- Red, Blue, Purple

Damaged Toppers Due to Improper Cleaning On the next page are pictures of Toppers cleaned with non-approved cleaners and abrasive pads The dry-erase surface of the Topper was damaged and it could no longer be used due to erasability issues

Damaged Toppers These Toppers were damaged with an abrasive pad and/or abrasive cleaners. The erasability of the surface was removed.

Damaged Toppers These Toppers show scratches caused by using abrasive pads and cleaners

Key Points to Remember Important: treat the Patient Care Central Topper™ surface like you would a pair of glasses - only soft non-abrasive materials should ever touch it! Use only soft-cloth or felt-eraser to erase writing on Toppers Do not use abrasive-cleaners or pads Use only approved cleaning products Do not use permanent markers If you have any questions, please contact Customer Service at (877)
