The Parkside Federation Excellence Innovation Collaboration Revision What we learnt… (Y11 Aim Higher)

The Parkside Federation Excellence Innovation Collaboration Revision - Year 9 In this course we’ll learn how to use video and audio equipment and editing software to make our own podcasts. Podcasts are short audio or video files that can be downloaded to any portable device, not just an Ipod. Firstly, we’ll be looking at making some short podcasts to help us with our revision for the SATs, then, we’ll move on to making ones that reflect our own interests and some that introduce the school: these will be put on our website. We’ll use Audacity to edit sound and a programme called Visual Communicator to make professional video presentations, including the use of ‘green-screen’, where we can put any kind of background behind you; the beach, for example! This course will involve script- writing, so it will develop your literacy skills. It will stretch your reading skills as we delve further into The Tempest. You don’t need to be an IT expert, but you do need to have an interest in learning how to use some new software. By the end of the course, we hope to have our own federation podcast ‘channel’ on ITunes.

The Parkside Federation Excellence Innovation Collaboration Craig Morrison An example using ScreenCorder to model use of software…

The Parkside Federation Excellence Innovation Collaboration Craig Morrison An example using Adobe After Effects to teach a concept …

The Parkside Federation Excellence Innovation Collaboration Craig Morrison Student reactions… The idea is great The short length of the videos is a plus. They help to distil the ‘rule’ This is the best revision tool we have seen However, we are also interested in voice podcastsvoice podcasts Voice ones might get the ideas across better But, vodcasts are great for showing visual concepts
