Presentation transcript:

I’m stranded on a deserted island with only two cardboard popcorn cases, a case of Capri Sun, and some picnic supplies.

I use my knowledge to figure out how to save my life.

I have to figure out how to survive! The Problem I’m stranded on an island. I can’t drink salt water or I’ll die. There is limited to virtually no food growing naturally. I have popcorn I need to pop and I have to use my limited picnic supplies to collect water to drink.

I need to collect information I have some popcorn in cardboard boxes. I have some Capri Sun and some picnic supplies like a butter knife, Saran Wrap, and tinfoil. It’s hot and very sunny.

My possible solutions I can dig a hole and put one of my bowels in the center of the hole, cover it with some of my plastic Saran Wrap and put a small rock in the center. When the moisture in the ground evaporates it will condense on the plastic and run to the low spot created by the rock and drip into the bowel. The water that condenses on the plastic will be clean and salt free. I can use Saran wrap on a bowel, place it loosely on the bowel so that it will sag in the middle, and place a hole in the center so when it rains the clean rain water will funnel into the bowel. I can take one of my cardboard boxes and cut an opening in the top with my knife I have in my picnic supplies. I then line the box with some of my tinfoil then I cover the hole I cut in the box with Saran Wrap to hold in the heat. I then cover the inside of the top I cut back with tinfoil. I can then set it out in the sun and the reflective heat will pop the popcorn. I can ration the Capri Sun between the water I have collected and the popcorn. The calories in the Capri Sun will help to sustain me. Click to continue

What solutions will I use? I can use all these solutions. I can dig a hole in the sand and put one of my bowels in the center of the hole, cover it with some of my plastic Saran Wrap and put a small rock in the center. When the moisture in the ground evaporates it will condense on the plastic and run to the low spot created by the rock and drip into the bowel. I can use Saran wrap on a bowel, place it loosely on a bowel so that it will sag in the middle, and place a hole in the center so when it rains the clean rain water will funnel into the bowel. I can take one of my cardboard boxes cut an opening in the top with my knife I have in my picnic supplies.

My solar powered popcorn popper My plans: A solar powered cooker I’ll make it with a Capri Sun Box All I will need is some tinfoil Saran Wrap, and a knife. All I need is some tinfoil, Saran Wrap, and a knife I line the inside of the box with tinfoil and put in my popcorn. Then I cover the bottom of the box with the popcorn with Saran Wrap and sit it in the sun.

The hole I’ll dig in the sand and cover with Saran Wrap to collect water condensation

My Saran Wrap covered bowel that will collect water if it rains. If I’m lucky I’ll collect some rain water in this bowel.

The water I collect along with the popcorn and the Capri Sun should sustain me for several days. Remember the six step problem solving model I was able to save my life using some Capri Sun, the Capri Sun box, some tinfoil, Saran Wrap, a butter knife, popcorn.
