Responsibility Driver is responsible for the vehicle while driving Team leader is in charge and responsible for team members, and has to ensure that the team is going to be safe in the vehicle, and therefore needs to make sure that the inspection has been done 3

Checklist Usage Follow the checklists CAPF 73 (Daily Inspection) Just because a vehicle is at mission base does not mean that it has been inspected It can’t hurt to inspect a vehicle again –Mission Specific Equipment –CAP-USAF Evaluated SAR/DR Missions Make sure you either have the evaluator with you when doing the inspection, or be ready to do it again 4

While the inspection is being completed, the team leader or assistant leader should fill out two copies of the CAPF 109 or assign it to a team member for completion Fill out as completely as possible Get all required signatures Leave a copy with the clearance officer Mission Paperwork 5

Before Starting 1. Engine Oil Level - Visually check fluid level 2. Battery - Visually check fluid level and cleanliness 3. Tires - Visually check for damage/abnormalities 4. Coolant - Visually check fluid level 5. Belts and Hoses - Check for fraying or cracking 6. Safety Device - Seatbelts/harness/headrests 7. Leaks - Visually check for fluid leaks 8. Clean Vehicle - Exterior and Interior 9. Damage - Exterior and interior missing parts 10. Inspection Sticker - Check for currency 6

After Starting 11. Lights - Visually check for proper operation 12. Instruments/Horn/ Windshield Wiper - Functionally check for operation 13. Safety Devices - Seatbelts/harness/headrests/warning light, etc. 14. Brakes/Steering - Functionally Check responsiveness/effectiveness 15. Unusual Occurrences - Noise/Vibration/odor 16. Other - Detail below in remarks column 7

Inspection Procedures A Daily Vehicle Safety Inspection Report will be accomplished on all corporate vehicles prior to first operation of the day. Once a vehicle has been inspected, a reinspection is not required until next calendar day driven. All discrepancies identified will be annotated and action taken to correct noted discrepancies as soon as possible. 8

Inspection Procedures (Continued) The Daily Vehicle Safety Inspection Report is designed to be used for one month. The completed Daily Vehicle Safety Inspection Report will be filed in the vehicle records folder. Copies of all previous daily inspections will be maintained in the vehicle records folder until replace by the next annual inspection. 9
