LESSON 18 GOD’S WILL FOR HIS PEOPLE (PART I)

Opening Prayer

THE GIVING OF GOD’S LAW

The Giving of God’s Law God gave the world His Law in two ways:

Romans 2: (Indeed, when Gentiles, who do not have the law, do by nature things required by the law, they are a law for themselves, even though they do not have the law, 15 since they show that the requirements of the law are written on their hearts, their consciences also bearing witness, and their thoughts now accusing, now even defending them.)

The Giving of God’s Law 1. He wrote it in people’s hearts. God gave the world His Law in two ways:

Deuteronomy 10:4 4 The LORD wrote on these tablets what he had written before, the Ten Commandments he had proclaimed to you on the mountain, out of the fire, on the day of the assembly. And the LORD gave them to me.

The Giving of God’s Law 1. He wrote it in people’s hearts. God gave the world His Law in two ways: 2. He wrote it on stone tablets at Mt. Sinai

Ephesians 4:18,19 18 They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts. 19 Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, with a continual lust for more.

The Giving of God’s Law 1. He wrote it in people’s hearts. God gave the world His Law in two ways: 2. He wrote it on stone tablets at Mt. Sinai because people’s sin made them forget some of God’s Law or misunderstand it.

The Giving of God’s Law

His Word in My Life Evaluate: It’s better not to study God’s law too much, because the more I know, the more God will expect of me.

THE REASON FOR GOD’S LAW

Romans 7:7 I would not have known what sin was except through the law. For I would not have known what coveting really was if the law had not said, "Do not covet."

The Reason for God’s Law 1. The Law serves as amirroror curbto All people (S.O.S.) for

Psalm 119: Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.

The Reason for God’s Law 1. The Law serves as amirroror curbto All people (S.O.S.) for 2. The Law serves as aguideto show believers how to live a God- pleasing life.

His Word in My Life Evaluate: Now that I’m a Christian I no longer need God’s law to serve as a curb or a mirror.

Why Obey God’s Law God introduces His commandments with the words: “I am the LORD YOUR God.”
