Eph. 6:10-12; Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places

Eph 6:13-15; Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace

Eph 6:16-17; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take up the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

In Review… There is a devil The devil is at war against anyone who follows Jesus Christ We are given power and authority over the devil as we take up the Armor of God

The Roman Soldier had 2 swords A long sword to use offensively in a charge against the enemy A short sword to use defensively in close quarters combat The word used in Eph. 6:17 is “MACHAIRA” meaning “small sword, knife, dagger”

When the devil attacks with his lies and temptation, we counterattack with the Sword of the Spirit – the Word of God. Your words can become a weapon that cuts through the attack of the enemy, to pierce and tear and shred apart his lies.

GRAFE – The “Scriptures” 2Timothy 3:16; All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness

LOGOS – The “message” of the Scriptures 1Thess. 2:13; … when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you welcomed it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which also effectively works in you who believe. The Seven Sons of Sceva – Acts 19:13-16

RHEMA – The Word of God “declared” Ephesians 6:17; take the …the sword of the Spirit, which is the RHEMA of God. RHEMA means utterance, a word spoken or declared with assurance RHEMA is the declaration of the LOGOS that you received from the GRAFE

RHEMA – The Word of God “declared” LOGOS becomes RHEMA (The Sword of the Spirit) when you have such conviction, faith and assurance about the Word of God that you declare it with authority !

Matthew 4:1-10 ; Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. 2 And when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward He was hungry. 3 Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, "If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread." 4 But He answered and said, "It is written, 'MAN SHALL NOT LIVE BY BREAD ALONE, BUT BY EVERY WORD THAT PROCEEDS FROM THE MOUTH OF GOD.' The RHEMA Word must be living & active in you Luke 6:45; For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks. Revelation 1:16; 2:16; 19:15 … “out of His mouth goes a sharp two-edged sword which is the Word of God”

The RHEMA Word must be living & active in you Heb 4:12; For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. If you’re going to be effective with the sword – you first have to let it to “cut” you!

The RHEMA Word must flow from faith Hebrews 4:2; …the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith … 1Thess. 2:13; …the word of God …effectively works in you who believe. Mark 11:24; … whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.

The RHEMA Word must flow from faith Believe the Word of God has power Heb. 11:3; By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible. Isa 55:11; My word …shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

The RHEMA Word must flow from faith Believe the Word of God has authority Luke 9:1;.. He gave His disciples power and authority over all demons, and to cure diseases. Luke 10:19; Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Luke 7:6-9; the Roman Centurion’s faith

The RHEMA Word must be wielded in prayer Ephesians 6:17-18; And take … the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; 18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit…
