Medical Follow Up for Victims of Sexual Violence Dr. Cheung Man Kuen Medical Officer Department of Family Medicine New Territories East Cluster

Objectives To provide follow-up medical care to victims of sexual violence after they have received initial treatment at AED To provide follow-up medical care to victims of sexual violence after they have received initial treatment at AED To provide medical care to victims of sexual violence who presented within 6 months of the assault and is referred by a registered medical practitioner to be in need of further medical care related to the sexual assult To provide medical care to victims of sexual violence who presented within 6 months of the assault and is referred by a registered medical practitioner to be in need of further medical care related to the sexual assult

Sexual Violence Incident Victim attending AED in isolationPre-attendance call from case worker Police statement and forensic examination in an appropriate setting Inform case worker to come while attended by experienced nurse Victim attending AED accompanied by case worker Acute medical treatment Referral to designated follow-up clinics Appointment booked by case worker Victim attending follow up clinic accompanied by case worker

Scenario 1: Victim presented at AED within 14 days of sexual assault Victim attended AED and received referral letter (sample letter) Victim attended AED and received referral letter (sample letter) Case worker/Victim calls at the contact phone number of the designated clinic and make appointment Case worker/Victim calls at the contact phone number of the designated clinic and make appointment Victim (  accompanied by case worker) to attend the designated clinic on the appointment date Victim (  accompanied by case worker) to attend the designated clinic on the appointment date
