Access to lethal agents is both an acute and a chronic risk factor.

Access to lethal agents is both an acute and a chronic risk factor.

SUICIDE RISK FACTORS Acute & Chronic Risk Factors : These can be divided into acute and chronic categories: Acute factors, indicating a current elevation of risk, include suicidal ideation, the presence of a specific plan, the means to carry out such a plan , prior suicide attempts, coexisting substance abuse or panic disorder with depression, and recent losses. A high intention to die is also an important clue.
