The site contains over 300 West Gallery pieces which are freely downloadable and copiable for amateur use. There is also much information about West Gallery music and events. Roding Music

Home page of Roding Music News shows recent additions to the website. Downloads shows freely downloadable and printable scores of West Gallery pieces.

Home page of Roding Music Events shows detail of workshops and concerts. Info gives general West Gallery information.

Home page of Roding Music Articles gives background material about some classes of pieces. Contact brings up an address.

Downloads All downloadable scores are available as Sibelius Scorch files or PDF files. Scorch files may be downloaded, printed, and played. Information about Scorch files is available under Info / Questions and Answers. PDF files can only be downloaded and printed.

Examples Examples of downloadable scores show the first system only, for clarity.

This is the beginning of a metrical version of the Nunc Dimittis, a canticle sung at Evensong in the Church of England. The tune or air is in the tenor part.

This is the same piece with the air in the soprano. All tenor-led hymns, psalms and carols have alternative soprano-led versions.

And this is the same piece with added keyboard accompaniment. The accompaniments are transcriptions of the vocal parts.

Downloads All downloads are available with or without keyboard accompaniment. Those with the accompaniment may have fewer verses underlaid, and may need more page turns. Those without the accompaniment are better suited to singers.

Downloads There are pages devoted to the needs of small choirs. There are 50 pieces for SAB voices, suitable for choirs short of male singers. 14 pieces have been arranged for unison choirs with keyboard accompaniment. More will be added soon.

This short easy three-part anthem is typical of what is available. There is more challenging music for those who prefer it.

This is a lively four-part piece arranged for unison choir with keyboard accompaniment.

Downloads There follow further examples of hymns, metrical psalms, anthems and a carol. Close the frame at any time to return to the website.

A fairly straightforward four part anthem.

A more extended Communion anthem in four parts, with instrumental symphonies or interludes.

A typical lively and rhythmic West Gallery Christmas carol.

A useful harvest hymn, suitable for congregational singing.

A challenging three-part hymn; not suitable for congregations!

A useful metrical setting of Ps 23, suitable for many occasions

A fuguing tune, setting verses from Isaac Watts’ paraphrase of Ps 118.

A lively setting of the Jubilate Deo (Ps100), requiring some nifty pedal work if sung with organ accompaniment.
