Presentation transcript:

This stanza describes how the boat is floating down the stream, and creates an image using the words ‘sunny’, ‘lingering onward dreamily’ and ‘evening of July’

The words like ‘nestle’ and ‘pleased’ help us imagine how the children are sitting, and what they are feeling (pleased, eager)

This stanza from the poem shows us how the season are changing. Words like: ‘long has paled’ and ‘autumn frosts have slain July’. These phrases allow us to have an image of what he is describing

This phrase, once again, is showing how the boat is floating, giving the reader a strong image of it. The words ‘drifting’ and ‘lingering’ show us how it’s moving, while ‘golden gleam’ describes the lighting and setting

“Still she haunts me, phantomwise, Alice moving under skies Never seen by waking eyes.”

When the poem says ‘and autumn frosts have slain July’ the speaker is saying that that childhood, which is represented by July, is being taken over, or slain, by adulthood, or ‘Autumn Frosts’ The poet uses the phrase ‘Ever drifting down the stream’ in the last stanza. The stream is representing the transition from ‘wonderland’ or childhood into adulthood
